Budgeting with Budket

Introduction

In this article we'll show you how to create and initiate a budget (with Budket) and how to work on it.

You can enlarge the images by clicking them.

Creating a new budget

Start by registering in Budket, it's fast and easy, it doesn't require credit card information, and you can start working immediately.

As you've log in to Budket for the first time, a default budget with default groups and rows is created for you. You can modify the structure of the default budget as you wish. With the commercial Plans you can use existing budgets as templates for new ones, allowing a quick way to make alternative versions of a budget. You also get to create more budgets.

You can now add values to your rows. Values that bring money to your company are typed as positive integers and costs as negative intergers. See the screenshot abowe.

Navigating in the budget view

You can easily navigate (and do rolling budgeting) in the budget view by clicking on the buttons on the left top corner of the screen. The << button will move you a year backwards, < one month backwards, > one month further and >> a year further.

Graphs and reports

After you have some values in your budget you can look graphs and reports. Select the graph from the drop box next to the Show report button. Below you can see the monthly totals.

Modifying groups and rows

Click on the Add new group and give a describing name to your group, in the screenshot below it's Incomes, then click Create. To add rows into the groups click the icon after the group's name.

Analysing cashflow

To really see how your cash situation will develop you can use the cash flow tool. Click the Cashflow button, select the time frame and type the effective dates. The effective date is the number of dates that the cash effects your bank account.
